JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Managing Attorney, the Staff Attorney – DEER (Development, Environmental, Entitlements, and Real Estate) provides counsel to all levels of leadership on diverse issues related to government and business operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides legal advisement on real property development and related entitlement matters, complex commercial transactions
- Drafts and reviews construction, real estate, development, and general business contracts
- Utilizes best practices and timely updates to address emerging legal and business issues
- Conducts legal research and analysis and communicates findings orally or in writing as required.
- Assists in providing advice and counsel regarding environmental and OSHA/CalOSHA compliance
- Advises on governance and compliance issues within the DEER areas of practice.
- Prepares legal documents related to legal entities
- Advises on proposed and existing federal, state and tribal legislation
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor from an American Bar Association accredited law school is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant legal work experience is required.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with tribal government is preferred.
